First suggestion take a little break from the computer, if even for just a day. Get the house organized, and then sit down and maybe lay out a schedule.
It takes time to balance everything and most of the time I will be honest I feel like a juggle more than balance, but it all works out in the end. Prioritize your life, find what means more and place that at the top of the list and go from there. Just know we all go through this.

Well Laura, with 2 little ones under the age of 4 its going to be hard, take a break from the computer, have someone watch the girls for a few hours so you can clean in peace, and have your hubby or someone possibly watch the girls so you can rest, nap, read, get a massage...whatever you want to refresh your spirit and body. and lastly... cut yourself some slack. The house need not be perfect, you can have a pile of dirty laundry ect...you need to take care of yourself too.

My organizational skills went down the drain after I had my son, he's in his terrible two's. We go out to playdates or Gymboree class during the day. My son takes a nap at least 2 hours in the afternoon, usually 1pm-3pm, so I try to do as much chores as I can before he wakes up. When he wakes up, we play and take a walk or do playgrounds. Then when hubby comes home from work, he spends time with our son so I can do dinner. When he goes to bed around 8pm, then I can do blogging!

It's really hard to do it all! I try to write everything down - it helps clear my mind.

Have you ever seen the little yellow book by Brian Tracy called "Eat That Frog"? In it he says to do the HARDEST thing first, and then everything after that seems really very easy. Imagine you have a banquet in front of you where you must eat one of everything, and there is frog on the menu. You eat the stuff you don't like first, and then you have the freedom to eat the stuff you enjoy (just like we teach our kids!). It seems tough when you first think about it, but it works really well because once you've tackled the frog (the really hard stuff on your list), everything after it is really is easier to face. Best wishes!

Hi Laura. That's a tough question and I'm sorry you're feeling overwhelmed.

My children are grown now, but when they were little I had to give up some of my desire to be and stay organized. It's really a case of making sure your priorities are straight on a day-to-day basis. Raising your children comes first, which I'm sure you know. For me, that meant baths and bedtime stories had to come before making sure toys were picked up, etc. That was 20 years ago, so I didn't have a computer to occupy all or part of my time. (I say all because I'm addicted to this medium!). Once my kids were old enough to function on their own, things seemed to lighten up. But it is gradual.

Help your children help themselves. I had my kids folding their own laundry when they were in Kindergarten! So responsibility was age appropriate and grew over time.

I'd be happy to chat some more with you about this topic. Please feel free to email me.

And remember to take good care of *you* too!

I just bought a Mom Planner from Franklin Covey and I LOVE IT! It has really helped organize my schedule especially because the two girls are in two different places during the day.

    Hope you are feeling better!

Staying organized - one word: caffeine! :-)

I've got no idea, just wanted to offer my moral support. Personally, I blog after the kids are in bed, I read other blogs in the morning when I'm having breakfast and coffee. I try to fit everything else in between, and when I can't I just let it go. ;-)

I'm still figuring that out for myself! But I know I've decided to schedule my blogging time and NO MORE! So if it's two hours in the morning, two hours is all I get. It's just too easy to get caught up in all this bloggy stuff. And it'll force me to prioritize. Good luck! Be sure to post how you're doing!

No help here, just a hang in there. Right now I don't have a schedule, but when the kids go back to school and my work hours change, then I'll need a schedule.

I'm not always on top of things but...when things get a little overwhelming, ii helps to take a break even for just an hour. Also, I think scheduling is important.

Organized? Whats that you say? I think you are speaking a foreign language that I have yet to learn.

Take a break and have a hazelnut mocha or some sort of chocolate. That usually works for me.

My daughters are both grown now (19 & 21) but I am helping to raise my grandson with my oldest daughter while she goes to school and works, plus I have a very large house, a husband, everyone lives at home, and we have a 12 y/o autistic son. I know your pains about getting everything done...but I live by a rule my mother, rest her soul, taught me a very long time ago. She told me, when the girls were little, that if you take care of everyone else but fail to take care of you then you wind up a bitter and frazzled mother (she raised 8 of us kids) and I live by that rule. Twenty years from now will the kids remember that the kitchen was spotless or will they remember playing in the rain with Mom that day? Will my husband remember the crease in his jeans or will he remember the candlelit bubble bath he came home to, with me waiting in it? Will I remember the dustfree coffee table or the movie I piled up on the couch and treated myself to?

Yea, the bills have to get paid and the laundry is a must. Kitchens have to be swept and mopped and the carpet vacuumed but having things spotless? Nah, not a necessity at all. Living life is much more important.

I know this is turning into a novel but I guess I just wanted to remind you that none of us will look back on our lives at our deathbed and say "I sure wish I had mopped and vacuumed more", do we?

I feel ya. Let the blog go. If necessary, let the housework go. Take care of you and your children. Once that's in order, slowly start adding things back in.
While we like to think we're superwomen, sometimes we need to remember that we don't *have* to do it all.
